From The Kitchen Garden

At Summerleaze, the kitchen garden is an important part of life on the farm — a productive space where fruit, vegetables and herbs are grown organically and in tune with the seasons.

Throughout the year, what comes from the garden changes naturally. Summer brings an abundance of soft fruit and vegetables, while autumn offers a different harvest altogether. Produce is picked when it is ready and enjoyed fresh or preserved so that the flavours of the garden can continue long after the season has passed.

These apricots are a perfect example. Harvested from the garden at the height of summer, they make the short journey from tree to kitchen, where they are transformed into homemade jam.

Growing food in this way is about more than what ends up on the table. The kitchen garden reflects the wider ethos at Summerleaze: working with the land, following its natural rhythms and valuing what can be grown and made close to home.

Alongside the gallery, workshops and wider working farm, the kitchen garden is another expression of the connection between land, creativity and everyday life that sits at the heart of Summerleaze.

From garden to kitchen and, ultimately, to the table.
