“Ancient Egypt was probably not greatly different from modern times in the way that society was organised starting with the Pharaoh and Chief Priest, and progressing down through the nobles, professionals, craftsmen, and so on. Well worth seeing the ruins and remains .”
Richard Foster is a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, President 2017-2022, and former Vice President and Hon. Treasurer. He is also a member of the Art Workers Guild.
Richard spends the majority of his time painting portraits, some in London, but many on location. His portraits are known for their liveliness and individuality. He also likes to have exhibitions of his landscapes every so often.
He has had numerous exhibitions in London including five at Spink and Son, as well as Rafael Vals, Partridge Fine Arts and Indar Pasricha. Since then he has put on four exhibitions himself in Cork Street and Duke Street, St James's. He exhibits every year with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, and used to exhibit at the Royal Academy regularly until ten years ago.
In March 2009 he accompanied HRH The Prince of Wales on his Official Tour of South America as tour artist. In the exhibition at Buckingham Palace, summer 2025, of a selection of pictures done by all the artists on the tours, Richard’s watercolour of the then Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall took pride of place.
