“The light of the Nile is still with me six months after our return. Everything is suffused with a sort of golden intensity, whether you are looking towards the desert, or directly across the surface of the water. It is impossible not to be struck by the variety and colour of the subject matter or to be awed by the scale of the river itself, which has given life to this incredible and ancient culture.”
Luke is a landscape and portrait painter who trained at Heatherleys in Chelsea after taking a degree at Magdalen College, Oxford in English and Modern Languages. He shows regularly in London with Panter and Hall and was President of Chelsea Art Society for 10 years. In 2010 Luke was a royal tour artist, accompanying HRH Prince Charles to India.
Luke started painting in his teenage years and devoted himself to painting full time from 1994. He is based in West London where he has studios in Acton and Kensington.
