“I think I most enjoyed painting from Elephantine Island. It was a place you could walk around to paint untroubled by hoards of tourists. Also at night, looking west across the Nile it reminded me of being back on the Giudecca looking at Venice.”

Born 1949, Buffalo NY, Geoffrey studied Architecture at the University of Virginia. After three years he wen on to study painting and drawing at the Art Students League of NY, principally with Frank Mason. He maintained a studio in NY until moving to Venice in 2000. While there, of course, Geoffrey painted Venice as well as many other places in Italy and around Europe.

Geoffrey has also painted in Romania, India, Morocco, Vietnam and Syria.

In 2016 he bought an old Dutch farmhouse in New York’s Hudson Valley, and has again been painting in NY, Maine and Vermont.

This year, Geoffrey has been twice over to Ireland to paint in places where he painted in the late 70’s. He is teaching a watercolour course this September at the London Fine Arts Studios.
