Largely self-taught, Anna works predominantly en plein air, her paintings a reflection of the energy of working outdoors in the immediacy of the moment. A natural colourist her use of bold, expressive strokes and vibrant colours are central to her practise, allowing emotion to emerge through the physicality of the paint. The feeling within each work is not merely represented but is an integral part of the painting itself.
“Painting en plein air is one of life’s greatest freedoms. When I paint outside I feel completely connected to the natural environment around me. I liken the immersive feeling to wild swimming, another of life’s greatest highs. It is the connection to the beauty of the natural world I want the viewer to feel too when they look at my paintings, to be absorbed in the journey of the painting, through my world of colour.”
